The regulation company that handled the tax affairs of Donald Trump and his corporation all through his presidency said it would end symbolizing him and his business.
The organization, Morgan Lewis & Bockius, is now wrangling with the New York lawyer general’s office around paperwork linked to its operate for the previous president’s company, the Trump Corporation. Led by Democratic Attorney Common Letitia James, the office is conducting a civil-fraud probe into Mr. Trump’s money dealings.
“We have experienced a confined representation of the Trump Organization and Donald Trump in tax-relevant matters,” a Morgan Lewis spokeswoman reported. “For all those matters not currently concluded, we are transitioning as acceptable to other counsel.”
The spokeswoman didn’t provide a rationale for the firm’s choice.
Morgan Lewis joins other corporations that have distanced them selves from Mr. Trump in recent days. Following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, Seyfarth Shaw LLP explained it experienced notified the Trump Firm it would no longer stand for the corporation. “We are operating with the business to protected new counsel for its ongoing business matters to make certain a smooth transition in accordance with our moral obligations,” a Seyfarth spokesman reported.
